Adjusting to Jaxon

With the first baby sickness, comes alot of other new things. Things like cool mist humidifiers, saline drops, etc. Something Jaxon is pretty fond of right now is the baby Vicks...something she's not so fond of is the baby bogie sucker. Well as Jaxon is getting used to things...so are the dogs. As much as Jaxon hates the baby bogie sucker, I think she talked Petey into destroying it for her...

I'm not sure how Pete was able to get this, seeing that it was high on her changing table. But he did and now its gone...lucky for Jaxon, we have 5 more.(

(This is an OLD picture of him, and he is HUGE now compared to this...anyway, this is his "I'ma P.I.M.P" picture)

Now Texas, remember this crazy guy...he is totally infatuted with her cool mist humidifier. Basically it is a fan...he sits there infront of it the majority of the day. And just imagine...if you have ever blown in a dogs face/ear they do a couple of things. One is that their ears bob up and down...and the other is that they "bite" at you. Well this is what Tex does all day. He's so funny.

This is a video of Jaxon trying to crawl. Of course she was doing it alot better when the camera was in front of her face. Enjoy!

So how is Jaxon? She may be doing better...I really can't tell. She does seem to be miserable when her Vicks rubs off...but other than that, she is still the snot nosed face kid she was the other day. And not just snot nosed. When she woke up an hour ago, she had crusty snot on her eyelids and cheek. I couldn't help but laugh, and she looked at me like "how dare you laugh at me in this condition?" She is exhausted. She has been sitting in my lap twice now, when she just starts to nod off (like an America's Funiest Video...only there is no bowl of food, for her to fall into). She did sleep A LOT better last night than she did on Saturday night. AND she reached for me yesterday...my heart broke. It was so cute, after our rough night, Mitch was going to hold her before he had to go to work, and I was making breakfast. I came in to see what she was doing on his lap...she smiled and leaned over with her arms out for me! I love her.

Wild Woman

About 25 years ago, I had my first encounter with allergies, being congested, boogers running down my face etc. And I remember the way I would sleep because, still when I get sick like that...I sleep the only way possible for me to breath. First I'll turn and toss for a few hours but I always end up sleeping Indian Style with my legs and bending over at the waste while lying my arms and head over a mound of pillows...well why is that important?
This morning at 4am I heard, what I had thought to be bubbles blown out of Jaxon's mouth. I was more coming out of her nose than her mouth...but there were definitely booger bubbles everywhere. Poor child.
I sat in the bathroom with her at 4:30 and turned on a HOT shower to let the steam build up...I've used the humidifier and everything. Good news is, that I have the most compliant baby ever...and she's still really not fussy. She does not however not being able to breath while she eats. Anyway...to compare her sickness to what mine use to be like...she fell asleep in the middle of her bed earlier, and when I went to check on her this is what I found.
Before I had the camera she originally had her right arm around the Lamb in the top right corner.
Now she's holding on to her bumper pad.
Oh and Abilene High just won again!!! 20-10 baby...we take on Pflugerville (however you spell that) next week! I obviously missed the game due to Jaxon's poor nose/throat/chest...but we won!

It's a hard day.

Today is a hard day for me. Four years ago, today, something happened to my family that rocked my world. No, I didn't technically lose a family member do to death, but really to a choice. I won't go into details, but it is important for people to know that any decision a person makes in a marriage, it will effect everyone in a family.
The reason why this day is so hard, is because for 21 years of my life I was taught to live a certain way, to treat people a certain way, love people a certain way, to be honest, to live your life as if the Lord is always watching, to make good decisions, to be smart, to not take anything for granted, and many other things that I guarantee many of you were taught as well. Well, all of the things that I was taught were not being practiced, to an extent, by the one person I held on a pedestal my entire life, the one woman I wanted to grow up to be just like.
My mom, made a decision that sent my world crashing down.
I know that a lot of people live through worse tragedies than their parents getting a divorce for whatever reason, but this is my tragedy. This takes a tole on my heart just about every day, and on this day every year anything can set me off. Today it was the song "No One" by Alicia Keys. I bought the CD yesterday and have listened to the song non-stop. Well today on my way to work, the song made me snap, and I cried through my 2 mile drive to work.
I was thinking of when the last time I took a picture with both of my parents. And this is it. The day of my graduation...I don't really know my granny jumped in this picture...but if you know my granny there is really no telling why?! Anyway, this was the last time in 2005 that both of my parents and myself shared a picture together.
I have forgiven my mother as much as my heart allows, but it still breaks at the thought of how my family used to be. I love her so dearly, and I know that she knows that, it is just hard for me to display it the way I used to.
So what gets me through the rough times? Well, my most wonderful husband happened to propose to me the day after my world crashed...and he has taken care of me since. And now I have a little one who makes me smile...then I have my friends who have picked me up more times than I can count. Sorry to have such a pitiful blog today...but it's just one of those days.

19 Days till Christmas!

WARNING
You are about to encounter the longest email ever. First of all I have a few updates. Jaxon is now 5 months old today. I really can't believe it, it seems like only yesterday that I was laying in that hospital bed scared to death of what was about to take place. She is now about to crawl in maybe 2 minutes. It's amazing, she gets up on all fours...rocks back and forth, back and forth...scoots her knee up to her chest then DIVES forward! Already dreaming of playing Centerfield and Shortstop! I'll have a video of this soon enough.
Mitchell has another big game this weekend at Texas Stadium against Hebron...so keep Abilene High in your prayers, so they can press on towards their goal of a State Championship.
In the rest of this blog, I have a survey that my friend had on her blog, (with my answers obviously) and I added some of Jaxon's photo shoot pictures for her Christmas card. Enjoy!

1. Where was the first time you ever kissed the last person you kissed? Well I was driving in my car and trying to make a left. He was in my passenger seat...and when I leaned over to check if any cars were coming from the right side, he leaned up and kissed me...So Smooth.
2. What's the greatest thing that happened to you today? My prayers came true...every night I ask God for another chance to hold my precious daughter alive and well in the morning.
3. How many best friends do you have?true friends? I’ve been blessed with a handful of those, but all of my favorite ones live hours away or states away
4. Would you rather get up early or sleep in?sleep in...always, which has basically become 8:30!

(and one...and two...and three...and four)

5. Tell me where you got each article of clothing you're wearing? Well, my shirt and my pants are both from ACU's campus store...my undergarments are from Target...and my shoes my granny gave me (I'm so cool).

6. What's the closest thing to you that is brown? My dog Tex...he is literally laying over and under my granny's shoes!

7. What would you change about your life right now? Not much...my weight I guess...or work out habits.

8. Would you rather smile over a lie or cry over the truth? The last time I cried over the truth, was the hardest moment in my life, and I would never wish to go through that again. I'd rather smile over a lie...I'm good at detecting lies from people anyway...which really does make me smile.

(Mommy that is 10, can I stop now?)

9. What's on your bedroom floor right now? Bills and baby toys.

10. Who was the last person you got into an argument with? Well, I'm sure it was Mitchell, who else do I have to argue with?

11. Do you trust people? Well, maybe...I have been burned by a lot of friends in the past...so really no, just a select few.

12. If you could move away, no questions asked, where would you move?Georgetown...lots of trees and beautiful houses...or Playa del Carmen...no trees and it's just plain beautiful.

13. Have you ever been out of the country?Well I went to Australia to play softball 8 years ago...and then a little over 3 years ago I went to Cozumel and Playa del Carmen for our honeymoon!

14. Could you go a day without eating? I guess I could...but why would I want to do that?

15. How much do looks matter? I'd like to say no...but really, I talk about the funny looking people more than the next guy...I do try to find beauty in everyone though.

17. When was the last time you had your hair cut? November 2nd...odd that I remember the day, but it was the same day as the Abilene High/Cooper game...and that day was ingrained into my memory.

(Look at the drool lying in her neck rolls)

18. Would you rather be mad or sad? smad.. like Sookie! (I agree with you here Val.)

19. Does it take a lot to make you cry? umm...that really depends on the time of month, time of year, softball season or not, sports movies or not...

20. What's the best feeling in the world? To have Jaxon fall asleep on me...and then Petey and Tex sleeping on my legs.

21. Are you close with your mom? We have drifted...but I will never stop loving her.

(Can I open it?)
22. Are your parents strict? HA! my parents were very strict with me...PG 13 movies...maybe...I couldn't say crap, piss or sucks...which my 10 year old brother says (well he doesn't say piss...because he gets on to me for that), and if I were a child in my parents household now-a-days I wouldn't be able to talk about Harry Potter :(
23.Do you tell your parents everything?ummm no not really...it may be that whole strict thing, and me wanting to keep things from them so I wouldn't get into trouble. Like the one time I told them I went to see the movie Flubber when really I went to see Scream 2.
24. Would you rather be a bird or a fish? Can I be a dog?
25. Name one fear you have? Well, my fears have changed recently...but anything happening to my daughter scares every hair on my body.

(How do I get inside?)

26. If you need to go to the store a block away, do you walk or drive? Well I think I would drive...we live in an okay neighborhood...but you never know these days.

27. Does the thought of marriage scare you? To the right man...not at all.

28. How many kids do you want? Well I have 3 cool names picked out...and one is already used up!

29. What's your favorite color to wear? Well blues and greens do cool things with my eyes...but I love how Black just makes 90% of my body disappear.

(Really now, can I eat it?)

30. Who was the last person in your bedroom besides you? Well, Granny I guess...or Petey like drinking out of the toilet in my bathroom, so probably him.

31. What are you doing today?Well at this point of the day, all I have left is Grey's Anatomy!!

32. Would you rather be rich & sad or poor & happy? Really what kind of a question is that...I think if I had the possibility of being rich, I would still be a happy person

33. Do you work out? Well it makes Jaxon's "mommy juice" disappear when I work out...I say that because it gives me a really good reason to say no...but it really does...I've tried.

(You want me to do what?!)

34. What would you do if you found a dinosaur egg? hmm open a dinosaur theme park with electric fences, open it up to the public and make millions of dollars...o wait that was a movie.

35. Do you get bored easily? No...I'm easily pleased with sitting and doing nothing.

36. What's something that someone can do that really bothers you? Make excuses, or place responsibility on someone else.

37. Did you ever want to change your name when you were younger? I think I did...do you think going from Jennifer to JD counts as changing your name?

38. Do you wish you were famous?Nah...well it depends on what I'm famous for...definitely not like the Nebraska mall shooter.

39. Do you make a wish at 11:11?how come?? I do...and I have no idea why

40. When you're at the beach, do you swim or lay out more? Swim...less people see you when you are hiding in the water

41. Who's the last text message you received from and what did it say? It was from one of my pitchers...it said "OK, see you there."

The Backyardagins

Well we have a favorite TV show. It's hard to believe that at (almost) 5 months old, we can love television...but it is possible. Anytime Jaxon hears "Hi! I'm Pablo...and my name's Tyrone," she turns to find the TV. For 25 minutes Jaxon can be glued to the TV to watch the Backyardagins. It's quite amazing.

And then after a full day of the Backyardagins, what do we do? We fall asleep with our butt in the air!!

And yes Kellianne, she is a finger sucker. That is how she puts herself to sleep. And it's not just any fingers...it's her middle and ring finger. So go ahead...put those fingers together to your thumb and what symbol does that make? That's right...GO TEXAS!

Sidenotes

Ok, so the game mentioned below was much bigger than I must have portrayed. For those who know nothing about Southlake football...they are ranked 2nd in Texas and 5th in the nation...they haven't lost to a Texas team in, I dunno how long...They have won State in 4a and 5a for the last 10 years (maybe an exxageration, but pretty close)...and they always, ALWAYS knock Abilene High out of playoffs at this round.
And now for details of the game...we won 22-21...bigtime nail biter. They had the ball on the (what seemed to us fans) 1 yard line (maybe 5) with maybe 20 something seconds left in the game and fumbled the ball on the snap and A-High recovered it. They could have simply kicked a field goal and put us through our misery once again, but no Texas Football Angels smiled on us instead!

Just another cute picture of my Texas Angel.

Who'da thunk it?!!

We beat Southlake!!! What in the world...really, it was the most amazing thing I had ever seen. I believe just about everyone in that stadium shed a few tears. I know I did. My husband has worked so hard and sacrificed alot of family, and totally deserved to be a part of a game like that, and WIN. It was great to be there, those kids and coaches deserve it. Here are a few things that went on. Alot of the pictures are somewhat like "Where's Mitchell (Waldo)?"
Through the tunnel...
Getting Ready...
The National Anthem I'm sure he's yellin at someone here
I love this picture! The only thing not in motion is Mitchell. And what is a blog without a cute, funny picture of the one and only Jaxon?!
Until next time. Go EAGLES!
